Positive Feedback from Coldplay Team, Venue Leads and Council
We delivered security operations for two sold-out Coldplay concerts at an expanded rugby stadium in Hull. With over 45,000 fans attending each night, managing access, movement and safety across the site was essential.
Our role was to support the full delivery of the event. This included managing entry points, overseeing crowd movement, supporting VIP areas and working with local partners to ensure the site operated safely and efficiently throughout both shows.
The Challenge
Delivering security for a large-scale stadium event brings a different set of challenges.
Without clear coordination across access points, crowd movement and site operations, the risk of delays, congestion and safety issues increases significantly.
At a venue of this scale, managing crowd flow is only part of the challenge. Large volumes of people arrive within short timeframes, many in high spirits and focused on enjoying the experience.
This creates a more dynamic environment, where patience can be limited and behaviour can change quickly. Small delays at entry or pressure in certain areas can build quickly if not handled properly.
The challenge was not only to maintain control, but to support the overall experience. People are there to enjoy the event, and the environment needs to feel safe, well-managed and easy to move through from the moment they arrive.
The Solution
No safety issues, incidents or major delays across both events. Smooth entry, controlled crowd flow and safe delivery for over 45,000 attendees each night.
A comprehensive event security and crowd management plan was delivered across the stadium, combining full perimeter control, trained staff and coordinated access management.
This approach ensured controlled ingress and egress across the site, including the management of road closures, transport routes and bus movements. High-pressure moments such as arrival, interval periods and post-event exit were managed through clear positioning, communication and active crowd guidance.
Over 150 trained staff were deployed across key areas, including entry points, crowd flow zones, VIP areas and back-of-house operations. VIP logistics were carefully managed, including dedicated access routes and parking to ensure secure and uninterrupted movement.
The operation extended beyond the public-facing areas. Back-of-house security ensured asset protection across the site, from staging and equipment to bar and event infrastructure, while maintaining control over staff access and restricted areas.
Pre-event planning included threat assessment, counter-terrorism awareness and coordination through the Safety Advisory Group, working alongside police, local council and emergency services. A central control room was in operation throughout, supporting real-time decision making, incident logging and communication with on-site teams and partners, including medical services.
A structured response system was in place to manage incidents, from crowd-related issues to welfare situations such as lost kids, ensuring they were handled quickly and appropriately.
Operations continued beyond the event itself, with teams supporting safe exit, managing residual crowd movement and maintaining site safety until the venue was fully clear. Post-event debriefs were carried out with event organisers, police and local authorities to review performance and inform future operating plans.
All activity was tracked through live reporting systems, staff check-in processes and detailed incident logs, ensuring full visibility, accountability and alignment with UK event safety standards.
Seamless Delivery
Delivering two events at this scale requires tight coordination across every part of the operation. Task Personnel Solutions managed crowd flow, access and on-site logistics with confidence, ensuring both nights ran smoothly from arrival through to exit. The result was a safe, well-organised experience for everyone attending. We highly recommend them.
